OMAHA, Neb. – The principal who was wounded in last week's shooting at a Nebraska high school has been released from the hospital.
Hospital officials say Curtis Case was released from Creighton University Medical Center Wednesday afternoon — one week after the shooting at Millard South High School.
Police say 17-year-old Robert Butler Jr. used his police detective father's handgun to fatally wound assistant principal Vicki Kaspar and injure Case on Jan. 5. Butler then fired at a custodian and missed before fleeing the school and killing himself.
Kaspar had suspended Butler a few hours before the shooting for driving on the west Omaha school's football field on New Year's Day.
Kaspar's funeral was held on Tuesday.
