PHILADELPHIA – The company whose duck boat sank in the Delaware River in Philadelphia after a barge hit it has lost a bid to resume tours on a smaller river in the city.
But the Ride The Ducks company says it has Coast Guard approval to resume tours on the Delaware and is working with the city to start them up as soon as the spring.
The tours have been halted since two Hungarian tourists were killed in the July accident.
City managing director Richard Negrin cited road- and water-traffic concerns Tuesday as among the reasons for rejecting a proposal to move the tours to the Schuylkill (SKOO'-kill) River.
Ride The Ducks President Chris Herschend says he's disappointed by the decision.
