Pennsylvania Man Guilty Of Shooting Ex's Fiance

An eastern Pennsylvania man has been convicted of voluntary manslaughter in the death of the fiance of a woman he used to date.

EASTON, Pa. — An eastern Pennsylvania man has been convicted of voluntary manslaughter in the death of the fiance of a woman he used to date.

Jurors in Northampton County Court deliberated for about four hours Friday before convicting 24-year-old Clinton Harris in the March 2010 death of 22-year-old Joe Rountree in Easton.

Defense attorney Phil Lauer had argued self-defense and also suggested someone else may have fired the fatal shot. Harris said he had been avoiding Rountree for months because the other man had threated to kill him for dating his girlfriend, and he pulled a weapon and fired only after Rountree pointed a gun at him.

Jurors rejected both self-defense and the suggestion of another gunman, but they also did not agree with prosecution arguments for a murder conviction.
