Pennsylvania Flood Claims First Victim

Flooding that has claimed the life of one Pennsylvania man is prompting the evacuation of about 100 people from a street along the Lehigh River.

Flooding that has claimed the life of one Pennsylvania man is prompting the evacuation of about 100 people from a street along the Lehigh River.

Bethlehem Township police Chief Daniel Pancoast says officers weren't able to get to all residents of a riverfront street before the rising water closed the road Friday morning.

Police don't expect the flood waters to cause much property damage but residents were being urged to leave because it could be difficult to get in or out.

The flooding comes after more than four inches of rain fell in some areas. A Schuylkill County man died Thursday after his car was swept away by rising waters in Pine Grove. State police say troopers smashed a window in the submerged vehicle trying to rescue 74-year-old David Sallada.
