OKLAHOMA CITY – An Oklahoma County has convicted two men of first-degree murder in the death of a 16-year-old during an attempted robbery.
The panel took about two hours Monday to find Emanuel Mitchell and Anthony Morrison guilty in the May 2009 death of Antwun Parker. Jurors recommended life in prison with the possibility of parole for both.
Authorities say Parker and a 14-year-old accomplice tried to rob a south Oklahoma City pharmacy on instructions from Mitchell and Morrison.
Pharmacist Jerome Ersland knocked Parker unconscious with a gunshot wound to the head and chased the 14-year-old out of the store. Ersland came back, picked up a second weapon and shot Parker five more times.
He also is charged with murder and goes on trial May 16.
Parker's mother says justice has been served.
