WASHINGTON – A U.S. law enforcement official says the man suspected in the fatal shootings of two U.S. airmen at a German airport wasn't on any American terrorism watch list.
The official also says the U.S. is investigating whether the suspect, a 21-year-old ethnic Albanian from Kosovo, acted alone in Wednesday's shooting at the Frankfurt airport.
German authorities right now don't see that a terrorist network was involved. They say the man has confessed to targeting members of the U.S. military.
The U.S. official says the shooter fired nine times. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation is continuing.
The FBI has sent additional agents to Frankfurt to assist the Germans. Authorities are investigating what they consider a possible act of Islamic terrorism.
