Officer, 2 Others Dead After Domestic Dispute

A suburban Dallas police officer and two others were found shot to death at an apartment complex Tuesday, shortly after the officer responded to an emergency call about a domestic disturbance.

ARLINGTON, Texas -- A suburban Dallas police officer and two others were found shot to death at an apartment complex Tuesday, shortly after the officer responded to an emergency call about a domestic disturbance.

Dispatchers received a call about shots fired at the apartment complex in Arlington shortly after an officer arrived to respond to the domestic disturbance call, police spokeswoman Tiara Richard said. Arlington is a suburb between Dallas and Fort Worth.

Additional police responded to the second call and found the body of their fellow officer and two others inside an apartment. Officials did not release the identities or ages of any of the victims.

It is unknown if the suspect was among the dead, Richard said, but there was "no indication there is anyone at large."

The apartment complex was on lockdown and residents were told not to return to their homes until Wednesday.

"It is still early in the investigation and officers are in the process of determining what actually occurred," Officer Zhivonni McDonnell said in a statement.

It was the second time in a year that an Arlington police officer has died in the line of duty. In January, Officer Craig Story, 34, was killed when his motorcycle collided with a school bus.

"Any time you lose an officer in the line of duty . . . it's hard on the department," Richard said. "This is hard on our city and our community."

Mayor Robert Cluck released a statement saying he was "shocked and saddened" by the shooting.
