NEW YORK – A New York City man dubbed the Bouquet Bandit has pleaded guilty to robbing two banks while using plants as props to deflect suspicion.
Edward Pemberton of Brooklyn entered the plea in Manhattan state Supreme Court on Wednesday.
He was arrested last summer after a security camera photo of a flower-toting suspect at a Manhattan bank generated front-page headlines.
The bouquet, neatly bundled in pink tissue paper and plastic, concealed a note that demanded $50 and $100 bills.
One of the robberies netted about $2,000, the other $400.
The 45-year-old Pemberton is set to be sentenced on Sept. 14.
A judge is expected to give him a six-to-12-year prison term.
