Giffords' husband asks people to pray for injured

TUCSON – The astronaut husband of Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords expressed his thanks for the outpouring of support since Saturday's shooting in Tucscon.

Shuttle commander Mark Kelly said in a statement that his wife was doing what she loved most — hearing from her constituents.

He expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support the family has received from Arizona and around the nation, and thanked medical and law enforcement personnel and others who have helped.

Kelly said there's little we can do but pray for those injured and remember the six who were killed in the shooting.

NASA officials said Sunday it was premature to speculate on whether Kelly would step down as commander of the April flight of the shuttle Endeavour.
