Fire Department Employee Gets Timeout After News He Faked Reports While a Police Officer

Brandon Mullock is now on administrative leave with the Sacramento Fire Department after officials there found out details about his past career.

SACRAMENTO, Calif.— Brandon Mullock is now on administrative leave from the Sacramento Fire Department after officials there found out details about his past career.

Prior to working with the fire department, Mullock worked as a Sacramento Police Officer for three years, and allegedly falsified 79 reports, most of them DUIs, Fox 40 Sacramento reports.

An investigation was prompted when several DUI arrest cases were reviewed by the district attorney's office and it was discovered that the dash camera on Mullock's squad car didn't match his arrest reports.

In one incident, a report said that a woman who was stopped for weaving in and out of traffic slurred her words and failed to recite the alphabet correctly. In a counting test, the report said she failed to recite a sequence of numbers. But the dash camera video, which includes audio, showed that she spoke clearly and appeared to pass those tests. She was still arrested.

Since this discovery, all 79 DUIs were dismissed by the district attorney.

Most recently, Mullock was accused of brandishing his gun off-duty, and resigned from the police department in September.

Mullock has since worked as a reserve officer with the Sacramento Fire Department.

"There's a different level of clearance for our reserve firefighters. We don't put them in a position of public trust," said Assistant Fire Chief Nikko King.

He says the fire department was aware of the trouble Mullock had gotten into last year, but recently learned more.

"There's some knowledge of things we didn't necessarily know about; we just have to take a closer look. He's not even to show up to work anymore pending the results of all the things that are coming to light," said King.

Mullock could still face perjury charges.
