Fatal Plane Crash in Arkansas Kills Two

Authorities say a plane has crashed near Hot Springs, killing two people who were on board.

Authorities say a plane has crashed near Hot Springs, killing two people who were on board.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Lyn Lunsford says the single-engine Cessna 182 went down around 5:15 p.m. Thursday about five miles east of Hot Springs in Garland County.

Lunsford says the plane left Carlsbad, N.M., and was en route to Hot Springs when it crashed.

He says the pilot communicated with air traffic controllers until about 14 minutes before the accident. Lunsford says the pilot didn't indicate there were any problems.

FAA records show the plane is registered to a Carlsbad resident, but Lunsford says it's not known if the owner was on the aircraft.

The victims' names weren't immediately released.

There were no reports of injuries on the ground.
