PHOENIX – A former Arizona detention officer has been charged with five counts of aggravated assault after he was videotaped beating two different inmates.
The Maricopa County attorney's office also announced Friday that Kevin Michael Gerster has been indicted on two counts of computer tampering.
The 35-year-old Gerster resigned from the county sheriff's office Dec. 1 after he was arrested.

Gerster is also accused of looking up the address of an ex-inmate for a friend.
A court spokesman says Gerster is out on bail. A message seeking comment was left Friday at a telephone listing for a Kevin Michael Gerster in Phoenix.
