DALLAS – Police say two men accused of trying to rob a suburban Houston bank and taking several people hostage face multiple charges and are jailed with bail set at $13 million each.
Pearland Police Lt. Onesmio (o-NES'-mee-o) Lopez said Saturday that 39-year-old Samuel Bonner and 29-year-old Raymond Johnson have each been charged with 13 counts of aggravated robbery — one count for each hostage taken — as well as for the robbery of the Chase Bank branch in Pearland. They were being held in the Brazoria County Jail.
It was not immediately known whether the men had attorneys.
Authorities are trying to identify two other suspects they believe were involved in the attempted heist and resulting standoff Friday. It ended peacefully after a negotiation of more than four hours.
