12-Year-Old Accused of Stabbing Officer at Florida Middle School

A 12-year-old boy brought a knife to Carwise Middle School and used it to stab the school resource officer.

A school resource officer was hospitalized after a 12-year-old boy allegedly brought a knife to school and stabbed the officer Tuesday morning, reports.

The seventh-grader at Carwise Middle School in Palm Harbor, Fla., reportedly confronted Officer Ken Fridlund outside the boys' bathroom and stabbed him in the abdomen.

"It appears to be an isolated incident between the [officer] and the student, for whatever reason. We don't know at this point," Pinellas Sheriff's Office Sgt. Tom Nestor told

The school was put on lockdown for the day, and students were not allowed to leave their classrooms.

Officer Fridlund is expected to recover.
