Eleven persons who were injured in a blast apparently caused by some kind of homemade bomb at the Mae Sot dump on Thailand’s border were themselves detained and then sent back to Burma on February 26 because they didn’t have ID cards. The police tricked them into coming to the station on the pretence that reports were needed for a criminal inquiry. The victims went voluntarily with their relatives and then the police locked them all up.

When a lawyer tried to visit the group he was given an appointment but on arriving at the correct time was told that the officers were too busy to meet him. The investigating officer, Pol. Maj. Annop Chaichan, has since said that there is no case to investigate. Apparently there is nothing suspect about exploding rubbish in Mae Sot.
